Food Drive
Drop-off on Sundays, August 17-31 in the Lobby
There is an ongoing need at Githens Middle School to help feed children and their families who are having troubles making ends meet. Others in the community, as well as Githens families, donate throughout the year, but CHBC provides the initial supply at the beginning of the school year. Githens staff and their PTA are deeply grateful for our church's annual "kickstart."
REMINDER: No backpack donations. Githens students' textbooks have been replaced with laptops, so now there is space in their everyday backpacks to send home food.
This year's drive will span 3 Sundays: August 17, 24, and 31. There are two ways to participate. See below...
IN-PERSON: Go Shopping and Drop Off Your Donations in the Lobby
FOOD GUIDELINES:
- Fruit cups (individual fruit/applesauce cups)
- Fruit squeeze pouches
- Individual packs of raisins or other dried fruit
- Individual packs of oatmeal and breakfast cereals
- Granola bars, cereal bars
- Peanut butter and jelly, 16 oz. in plastic containers
- Canned ravioli or spaghetti
- Canned soups and stews
- Canned tuna or Vienna sausages
- Packs of crackers (or boxes with sleeves of crackers)
- Canned vegetables
- Individually-wrapped snacks (peanut butter crackers, goldfish, etc.)
- Macaroni and cheese
NOTE: No large boxes, unless they contain individual pre-wrapped portions
