Community
The Young Adults ministry is a diverse community of 20s and 30s who seek to experience and express the love of God. We believe this is done through learning to trust God and to trust each other through worship, mission, and community.
We have found that meaningful community events can be either planned or organic – there is value in both traditions and spontaneity. Some of our favorite traditions include the fall beach retreat, a spring missions-oriented weekend, cookouts, and Maple View Farms ice cream runs. Certainly the Sunday 11:05am class also helps us build community, and we even try to sit together during the 9:30am service.
Nevertheless, we want to allow room for spontaneity and for events based on the current people and their interests. As community leaders for 2008-2009, Eddie Brown and Joseph Hoyle, hope to receive your input and help in creating adventures. This year already has exciting prospects of paintball, rafting, broomball, UNC football games, and an international Thanksgiving meal. Please plug-in by helping us initiate and plan events, follow up with visitors, and help with hospitality on Sundays.
We want to welcome people well to our community, but we are still learning how to do this. Please consider every listserve email a personal invitation for you and get plugged into a life group so that you can begin to know people on a deeper level. Also, check out Colossians 3:12-17, which casts a vision for our community.
