"This will be my family's second year volunteering in Boone at the processing center. Last year our group consisted of my sister, brother-in-law, 13 year old niece, my 90 year old grandmother, and myself. My husband and great-aunt will join our group this year. We had such a wonderful time at the processing center working alongside people from all over our state and surrounding states. We felt so privileged to be a part of such an exciting and meaningful message of Christ's compassion for His small children. It was thrilling to think that the next hand, after mine, to touch the treasures in the boxes would be the small precious hands of a child with so little to call her own. We, as a nation, are so often absorbed in our little worlds and worries. In our culture of video games, computers, cellphones, and pricey gadgets, I find it humbling that a child can be overjoyed by crayons and a small doll or matchbox car. " Read more
