Cross-Cultural Mission Partnerships Priorities

Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work. Ecclesiastes 4:9
The Chapel Hill Bible Church is committed to the core value of authentic relationships.  To that end, we embrace the following principles for developing, evaluating, and continuing our long-term cross culture mission relationships.  We recognize that some of these principles reaffirm and others change the way we have previously operated.
We emphasize that these guidelines are not meant to imply criticism of anyone or organization called by God to minister differently.  On the contrary, we celebrate the use of all gifts and efforts which promote the knowledge and discipleship of Jesus Christ.  We recognize that our resources are limited and that our calling is to minister in partnership according to these priorities.
  1. There should be a shared vision of reaching, connecting, growing, and empowering people for Jesus Christ.
  2. Ministry vision must be clear, culturally appropriate, and integrated with local leadership, culture, and society.
  3. Goals and a plan of action must exist.  The plan should be strategic, reasonable, revisable, and must involve local leadership of the ministry.
  4. There should, over time, be evidence of ministry effectiveness and achievement of goals.
  5. All expatriates should be in roles which are essential to the ministry and which cannot yet be filled by members of the local community. While thus serving they should actively promote the development of local leadership with the goal of eventually passing full control of the ministry to local leadership.
  6. There needs to be evidence of financial openness and accountability.
  7. We are committed to being a blessing to our partnership ministries in ways that will not promote dependency on western financial resources or leadership.
  8. There must exist a mutual appreciation of and respect for cultural differences.
  9. Opportunity should exist for an engaged partnership with CHBC wherein we share our lives as we assist and learn from each other.
I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the Gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:3-6
