Common Questions
What is the Bible Church?
We are a non-denominational, diverse group of people who share a vision
of becoming a community that experiences and expresses the love of
God.
We believe the best thing that can happen in your life is to experience
the love of God that comes through Jesus Christ. This can happen joyously
through the worship experience on Sunday mornings as we praise God through
our music, give thanks to Him in corporate prayer, or feel our hearts
lifted by the teachings of hope and redemption. It can also happen quietly
one-on-one in prayer or through small groups and Bible study.
We believe the best thing that you can do with your life is to express
the love of God to others. We place a lot of importance on developing
meaningful relationships with those in the church body, as well as with
those in the community. Together, we are eager to make a real difference
in the world as we learn how to express God's love through service.
Who can be a part of the Bible Church?
Our location in Chapel Hill gives us a particular responsibility to serve
those connected with the universities. We know that we have a short time
to empower thousands of students to take the love of God with them when
they leave. But, we are just as determined to serve young adults, families,
children, youth, and retired folks.
Whatever your background, wherever your are on your spiritual journey,
whatever your age, however good or bad your life has been – YOU are invited to celebrate God's love with us.
What is a typical Sunday service like?
Expect a time of worship (including
contemporary music), multimedia presentations, and a relevant message
based on scripture.
Sunday services meet at 260 Erwin Road
in Chapel Hill at 9:30 & 11:05am.
What should I wear?
Feel free to wear whatever is comfortable. Whether that means shorts,
jeans, or slacks or dresses, you will be in good company!
How long are the services?
Sunday services are normally just a little over an hour.
Will I be singled out in any way as a visitor?
Absolutely not! You won't have to sign anything or register your attendance
in any way (unless you place your child in our children's ministry— and
then only for your child's security).
If you are interested in finding out more about the Bible Church after
the service, we would like to offer you a special home-baked loaf of
bread in the Welcome Center. It's our way of saying that we're glad
you're here!
Where do my kids go during the service?
Your children are welcome to stay with you, if your family is most comfortable
that way, or to attend our children's programs. Both
our nursery and Children's
Sunday school rooms are open to receive children at 9:20 and
10:55am (approximately ten minutes before each service
begins).
There is
a cry room for babies, toddlers, and parents to one side of the
auditorium.
Our nursery provides a safe, secure,
and loving environment where your little one can enjoy colorful and age-appropriate
toys.
Our Children's Sunday school program is creative
and fun, yet serious about helping children grow spiritually
in their
understanding
of, and relationship to, God.
Our teachers and assistants are committed to being there weekly
to provide stable and loving relationships that
promote spiritual growth.
If you have a teenager, they are invited to attend the service
with you. Sunday school classes for Middle and High School
students are
offered
downstairs at 9:30am. Additionally, there are Sunday evening
youth groups— The
Rock
for Middle
School students and Common Ground for High School students.
Both meet on Sundays at 7pm.
What kind of church is the Bible Church?
The Bible Church is not affiliated with any denomination. Though non-traditional
in style, the Bible Church is deeply rooted in the truths of
the Christian faith. Find out more about what we believe in our Statement
of Faith.
Our vision
is simple: to be a community that experiences and expresses the love
of God.
