Katrina Relief Ministry in New Orleans

Since Katrina hit southern Louisiana, our church has partnered with an organization called Urban Impact to bring mercy and relief to the area. Brent Holck, one of our own young adults, helped us make the initial connection with this ministry after Katrina hit, and since then we have developed a long-term partnership with Urban Impact.  Our desire as a church is to help this ministry experience and express the love of God to the people of New Orleans.
 
Urban Impact’s Ministry:
Since 1989, Urban Impact has been serving at-risk youth and their families in the Central City of New Orleans when one of their members first started playing games with the children in the New Orleans housing developments.  As a result of God’s work, the ministry has grown and is now focused on transforming the People of Central City New Orleans through 1) Spiritual Development, 2) Christian Community Development, and 3) Strategic Ministry Partnerships.
 
College Encounter’s Work in New Orleans:
God has given us the opportunity to further our partnership with Urban Impact this year by sending a team of 15 people from College Encounter on Mar. 8-15.  The team I will be working with will be there to serve the victims of Hurricane Katrina by helping them clean, repair and rebuild their homes and communities.
