Cindy Broderius, Minister for Enfolding and Equipping

Summary of Approach, Process and Structure
The personnel advisory group, after a comprehensive review process,
generated an approach to staff structure describing the roles and
primary focus of pastors, ministers, directors and administrative
support. The proposed structure and titles are based on the present-day
reality of the leadership needs and mission of CHBC as well as the
matching of gifts, skills, experience and calling of each individual
to their role.

structure
Compensation Model
The PAG’s thorough study of compensation has resulted in
a comprehensive new compensation model. The new model is based
on providing fair, equitable, and consistent salary and benefits
for staff (current and future) using a clear and systematic approach.

including philosophy.

Other title changes/clarifications
In addition to the proposal to adjust three roles to minister
(to be voted on by the congregation), the deacons have implemented
a number of other changes to the staffing structure, clarifying
titles to reflect the roles in which the following staff are
serving:
Donna Coston, Business Office Director
Nate Massey, IT (Information Technology) Director
Cyndi Whisnant, Communications Director
Matthew Wright, Facilities Director
As with the other proposed changes, these changes were made
based on the matching of gifts, skills, experience, and calling
of these particular individuals to these roles.
Additional issues the advisory group plans to address
- We recommend the careful examination, clarification and necessary
revision of policies and procedures related to staff supervision,
mentoring, career development, and job or ministry goal-setting
and evaluation.
- We recommend that CHBC intentionally prepares for the growth
and diversity in mission and ministries of CHBC by addressing
the need for additional resources and/or staffing in the areas
of computer support, communications, cross-cultural mission,
and administrative assistance.
- We recommend that the deacons continue to seek ways to care
well for the staff, including but not limited to the following:
- Continue the function and service of the PAG to serve as
a resource for the staff and congregation.
- Increase the congregation’s awareness of staff through
visible participation in Sunday services, bulletin boards, written
communication, etc.
- Highlight the achievements and milestones of staff to celebrate
God’s gifts to CHBC and to build community.
- Aid the development and/or continuation of lay-led teams or
ministry partners who care for and support the staff.
