Vision for Small Groups

Vision

Small groups offer a unique way to enter into intentional Christ-centered relationships that allow us:

  • To know and be known,
  • To experience God’s love in worship and prayer,
  • To learn from God’s Word,
  • To live purposefully for God.

Goals

The goals of small groups at the Chapel Hill Bible Church rest on obedience to God in building His Kingdom through His church.  The vision of the Bible Church is “to be a community that experiences and expresses the love of God” as embodied in its strategic initiatives.  We seek to apply this through the following goals of community development and individual caregiving, as described below.

Small groups seek to build a strong foundation of community through:

  • Encouraging worship and adoration of God,
  • Supporting spiritual formation in individuals,
  • Promoting leadership development,
  • Empowering each of us to serve God in His Kingdom.

Small groups seek to provide individual care and support through:

  • Interactive Bible study focused on real life applications,
  • Intentional, caring relationships modeled in Christ,
  • Encouragement and tools for discipleship and responsibility,
  • A safe environment for trusting relationships that challenge us to be what God wants us to be.

Strategies

The Bible Church supports a diversity of small group practice. Emphases may include commitments of varying length, tasks, care, study, service, growth, etc.  We believe that each small group community will include worship and prayer, nurture and growth, and service in word and action.

Therefore, strategies for small group development at the Chapel Hill Bible Church will include:

  • Developing and supporting a culture within the church that nurtures small groups so that they, in turn, nurture the broader church group,
  • Maintaining practical measures that enable people to connect,
  • Training and empowering servant leadership.
