Small Group PhilosophyThe vision of Chapel Hill Bible Church is "to be a community that experiences and expresses the love of God," focusing on the four strategic initiatives of community, missions, spiritual development, and resource utilization. Small groups offer a unique place to work out this vision in our daily lives. Although the Christian experience is centered on an individual’s personal relationship with Jesus Christ, it is almost always worked out in community—the communities of our families, our friends, our coworkers, our neighbors, our church. And, while being a Christian is an intimately personal experience, it is not an exclusively private experience. Though there may be times in our lives when God figuratively calls us out into the desert for a time of prayer and fasting alone, He meant for us to share our lives with each other as we daily work out our salvation. Small groups offer a smaller community than the typical Sunday school class or worship service where we may enter into intentional Christ-centered relationships. And through training opportunities and practical experience in leading small groups, we attempt to help each other develop his or her talents and spiritual gifts, raising up potential leaders in our church community to serve in His Church community, both at home and abroad (resource utilization). |
