REHEARSAL and SERVICE SCHEDULE, School Year 2008-2009

Inclement weather policy at the bottom of the page

All Tuesday rehearsals are 5-6pm in Rooms 255-259 unless otherwise announced. Please arrive at 4:55 to unpack and tune. Tuesday afternoons are primarily aimed at student musicians or older people “dusting off” an instrument they used to play. For those advanced high school students or adults that cannot make Tuesdays, there are Saturday rehearsals – 2 per play date.

All Saturday rehearsals are 10:00am-12noon unless otherwise announced (room to be announced and will be posted on the doors of the church that morning). All are welcome; those not attending Wednesday rehearsals (at the discretion of the orchestra leaders) must come to a minimum of one of the two.

All Sunday services include a pre-service rehearsal and warm-up at 8:00 am on stage in the auditorium. (Please be ready to play and in your seat at 8:00 am.) Cases and personal items should be left in room 208, on the west hall. Dress should be neat, women should wear longer skirts or slacks. No jeans. We play for the first service, at 9:30 and the second at 11:05 am. Typically we can leave the stage at the beginning of the sermon each service, and thereby are finished with the morning before the sermon of second service. You are free to leave at that time, after music is turned in.

Music is sorted after the final service outside room 208.

Our upcoming schedule of services and rehearsals is as follows:

• Tuesday rehearsals will begin after Labor Day
• Saturday rehearsals are usually the Saturday two weeks before, and the day before, each Sunday that we play
• two services in the Fall of 2008
• two services in the Spring of 2009, including Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009

Inclement Weather Policy

• If Chapel Hill/Carrboro schools are cancelled for the day, Orchestra is cancelled.
• If Chapel Hill/Carrboro schools have delayed opening, we will practice.
• If Chapel Hill/Carrboro schools have early dismissal due to weather, we will not practice.
• School closings lists can be found at a number of media outlets, including http://www.wral.com/.

The church update line is 919-408-0310x133. While it generally will not include specific orchestra cancellations, you may want to call it to confirm whether or not the church is open on a particular day.

Finally, a note about spring breaks. Since different school systems take different breaks, we have elected to work through the break times. So, there will be no cancelled practices for any spring breaks.
