“A chord of three strands
is not quickly broken.”
 (Ecclesiastes 4:12)

We believe God intends marriage to be a 3-person relationship involving:

  • self
  • spouse
  • our Lord

We maintain that:

  • marriage is a holy institution blessed by God
  • God’s Word contains principles and stories which can enrich any marital union
  • we learn from sharing our experiences with our peers

We intend to draw on various sources of knowledge, including:

  • the Bible & Christian thinkers
  • class participants
  • presenters & facilitators

We are striving towards three attainable goals:

  • strengthening all aspects of our marriages
  • reviving excitement about God’s truth expressed in dynamic Bible stories about His people
  • increasing awareness of the supportive, accountable community at CHBC

God bestowed the most wonderful of blessings when He conceived the holy institution of marriage. A Christ-centered union has the potential to solidify the truest friendship, energize the most exciting shared dreams, and provide a miniature of God’s own compassion, patience and forgiveness.

Every maturing marriage requires real vulnerability, trust, and sustained attention. Just as it offers great safety and happiness, however, its failure can bring the most severe pain. That very relationship which promises shelter and comfort can become a place of profound loneliness. Thankfully, we are not in this on our own! In the person of the Holy Spirit, God is with us, giving us courage and strength. Abiding in Christ’s love, we have hope that our marriages can reflect the intimacy we share with Him.

We are very excited about this opportunity to share our experiences and challenges with one another, fostering the deepening of all our marriages through counsel and encouragement.

Beyond . . .

  • preconceptions of a finely tuned, 50/50, give-and-take relationship
  • expectations of temporary union
  • the belief that effort, knowledge, and experience alone can sustain a rich, blessed marriage

Into . . .

  • pursuing God’s awesome plan for union and oneness
  • greater understanding of and respect for one’s spouse’s needs and perspective
  • an ever-deepening commitment to nurturing others’ marriages, as well as one’s own
