Worship Through Giving
The following is meant to be a brief guide to help you make a plan about your financial giving –
- A plan that reflects your experience with God.
- A plan that helps you worship through giving.
Financial pressures often prevent us from being very intentional about some of the most important uses of our money. Most of us need an occasion to try to answer the simple questions:
What do I give? Why do I give it?
Even though we may give, we miss the joy, the sense of purpose, the spiritual growth and the impact that comes from being more engaged with our Living God in this area of our lives.
Begin with Prayer
Spend some time alone, or if you have a family, with your family in which you can pray, read the Bible and plan. Ask God to guide you and to give you faith, wisdom and boldness. Take time to praise God for his greatness, and for his blessing and provision in your life. Perhaps make a list of ways that God has revealed his faithfulness to you in the last few months or year.
Giving to the Church
Moving towards excellence in giving will require you to shape up the whole area of your personal finances. You may even identify some really discouraging obstacles or roadblocks to your growth in this area. Don’t get discouraged. Seek advice from others if it would be helpful. Understand that a transformation in your finances will not happen overnight.
We hope these webpages will be helpful to you in making your giving plans and in having confidence in how your gifts are being used to further God’s kingdom.
