What’s in the CHBC Children’s Library for Christmas?
Our children’s library has many wonderful books and videos that you can check out to enrich your celebration of Advent and Christmas. There are some real treasures for your family to enjoy, including one that is out of print and selling for $119! You can read it free!
Please return Christmas books, videos, etc. within a week of check-out so that others can enjoy them. Limit 2 per family at a time. Use them, return them, and check out some more!

The Candymaker’s Gift by David and Helen Heidle about the legend of the candy cane.
The Singing Shepherd by the author of The Tale of Three Trees. Read-aloud for preschool or elementary.
Christmas by Jan Pienkowski. The King James Version of the Christmas story illustrated with unusual silhouette paintings. The illustrations might be confusing to younger preschoolers.
The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey: Healing and the gospel message woven into a picture book that may bring tears to Mom’s eyes as she reads.

Miracle in a Shoe Box: Franklin Graham: the story of the impact of Operation Christmas Child on a family far away.
Elementary:
One Wintry Night by the late Ruth Bell Graham, wife of Billy Graham, a read-aloud picture book. Click here for the Amazon.com reference.
The Patricia St. John Christmas Book: a book of short excerpts from children’s books written by the beloved Christian children’s author, Patricia St. John. She has a wonderful way of weaving deep truths of the gospel message into her stories. (This out of print book is selling for $119! You can read it free!)
The Gift of the Magi, the classic O. Henry tale of the sacrificial giving of a young husband and wife. A beautiful story! (Also a potential tear- jerker!)
All is Well by Frank Peretti, a serious tear-jerker about the faith of a young girl and her divorced mother who is struggling to believe in God’s provision.
A Certain Small Shepherd: a chapter book about a Christmas miracle for a young mute boy who plays a shepherd in a Christmas play.

McGee & Me! Twas the Fight Before Christmas. Great for elementary aged kids, produced by Focus on the Family. The gospel changes lives and relationships at Christmas time.
The Christmas Story Keepers: animated video that is set at the time of the early church.
The Legend of the Candy Cane starring Florence Henderson
