Child security

We take your child's safety and sense of security very seriously.

Volunteers who know you and your child are key:

Our volunteers in Sunday school serve weekly, as does at least one volunteer in each nursery room. This means that the volunteers get to know your child and their needs--and know who the parents are!

Careful supervision:
Nursery: There is a supervisor at the nursery desk who monitors both nursery rooms. We have video monitors outside the nursery rooms so that parents may also stop by to see what is happening without their child being able to see them!

Sunday school: Two supervisors monitor the Sunday school rooms, doing random checks of the classrooms to make sure all is well. One of the supervisors is a professional teacher or other childcare professional .

If your child needs you: Parents of young children provide us with a 4 digit paging number which will appear on the screens in the auditorium if your child needs you.

Happy, orderly classrooms:

A child's sense of security is also dependent on the having secure boundaries in the classroom. Secure boundaries = more fun! Kids need secure boundaries to be able to learn. A secure, respectful environment lets us have a lot of fun while we learn!

We focus on prevention : Catching small misbehaviors before they escalate reduces the number of discipline "problems."

Volunteer training: Solid training in behavior management is provided for volunteers, so that they have a wide range of "tools in their kit" should problems arise.

Experienced supervision: Each service is supervised by one or more experienced teachers, to serve as teacher mentors, and to deal with the rare difficult problem that arises.

Corporal punishment is forbidden, as inappropriate to the role of a volunteer, as is any form of abusive punishment, such as humiliation.
