Berlin, in the land of Luther,
is not the city you might expect:
- Situated in the middle of the former East Germany, there are a mere 3500 evangelical Christians in its midst.
- Only 5% of the population in the former East Germany attends church regularly, compared to 44% in the US .
- More than 70% of East Germans know nothing about Christianity.
- Sources estimate that in all of Germany, there are 3 or 4% committed Christians of any denomination, though there are large numbers of people nominally connected to
These people need to hear the good news about Jesus Christ!
How can you support this team?
Updated March 2, 2012.

In partnership with Nairobi’s Mavuno Church, who had the vision to plant a church in Berlin, on May 29th, CHBC will be sending precious resources to Berlin: Roddy and Katie Dinsmore and their 2 sons Gabe and Elijah, college students Tyler Turner, Kristina Podesta, & Jeff Newell, and high school graduate Mary Quaile . They will go to Berlin to proclaim the hope of the gospel: Christ died for our sins, was raised from the dead, and will come again. Through faith in Christ, we can experience forgiveness of sins, walk in newness of life through the power of the Holy Spirit, and begin eternal life now.
Christ assured us that the gates of hell would not prevail against his church, but this team will need your prayers! If you are moved by the prospect of a land so devoid of outposts of the Kingdom of Light in the midst of Darkness, PRAY!
- Pray that God would be preparing hearts to hear the good news before any of our team even steps foot in Berlin.
- Pray for protection from the evil one for those people and the team we send.
- Pray that members of the team may be filled with the Holy Spirit and given the gift of evangelism.
- Pray for wisdom for those making decisions for this new church.
- Pray for needed funding to be given.
GIVE! Our special offering on Feb. 19th raised over $11,000 towards support!
We will continue to pull together to send this team to Berlin over the coming months. During Lent, as a church, we will be joining together to "spend differently," making choices such as foregoing that daily special coffee or a night out a restaurant and instead designating that money toward the Berlin fund. The money can be turned in every other Sunday, starting March 4th, in the lobby.
You can also support individual team members.
Checks can be made out to CHBC with Berlin in the memo line.
