Growing In Christ

E-mail Print PDF
In Matthew 28:18-20 Jesus said: All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I will be with you always, to the very end of the age. These were His last words in Matthew and they are the first words of our calling as a church.
BrochureWe have created a new brochure that links the mission of the Bible Church with the process of discipleship - that is, following Jesus. You can pick up a copy at the info desk in the foyer. Visually the plan shows the journey of a seed, from planting to full grain to bread and a community meal.
Our mission is ...

Reaching people with the gospel of Christ.
Connecting people to the body of Christ.
Growing people into maturity in Christ.
Empowering people for the mission for Christ.

Each activity forms a part of a cycle, a cycle the starts or continues on at any point. Like a harvest you need the whole cycle to grow to maturity.
A description explains each part of the discipleship process. For instance, under the aspect of:

Reaching, we might participate in service projects or learn how to share the gospel.
Connecting, we may join a life group or invite friends to churchwide events.
Growing, we may discover our spiritual gifts, take a class or become a mentor.
Empowering, we may partner with mission partners, locally and globally.

We are excited to put objectives with each aspect of the growth cycle. Please consider where you fit in and then jump into one of the ways to get involved in Growing in Christ. A suggested starting point is to take the course The Gospel-Centered Life, which will again be offered at 11:05am starting in January.
