The Chapel Hill Bible Church first met in 1970. It consisted then of about 20 people, many of them students and faculty at the University of North Carolina. Values central to the church were biblical teaching and radically Christian lifestyles. The church met initially in a building on UNC's campus, but outgrew that within a few years and built a facility of our own just off campus. By 2001 we needed a still larger building, where we now meet. The church is located midway between Chapel Hill and Durham, largely reflecting the demographics of those communities.

Over the 40+ years that we have been in existence, we have noted some specific marks of the Lord's work in our midst and in our community. Whereas we retain our campus roots and are influenced by the university community at large, we also are intentional in seeking to influence both our local communities and our world with the gospel.
