Seniors Ministering to Seniors: Home Visits
The Senior Initiative team is partnering with Orange County’s S.A.L.T. program (Seniors andLaw-Enforcement Together) to train volunteers to visit elders, which includes providingcompanionship as well as looking for safety and health issues for which the person mayneed assistance.
The team also seeks to inform our senior adults of the many other services provided throughOrange County Department on Aging: support groups for caregivers, tax preparationassistance, transportation, health and wellness seminars, and activities at the Robert andPearl Seymour Center in Chapel Hill and the Jerry M. Additionally, for those who need help with meals, Meals on Wheels in Chapel Hill-Carrboroarea http://www.chcmow.org/ and Meals on Wheels in Durhamhttp://www.mowdurham.org/ . These services are available for a short term or a moreextended period.
