“Should
I Open the Door?”
Barbi Dalton
Oil on Canvas
Are you feeling discouraged, depressed. Have you been broken and need
healing? When I painted this depleted figure and felt her anguish with
life, I prayed and gave the painting to the Lord and asked Him to reveal
how she could be healed. As a result of this prayer and recent study
of John Eldridge’s book “ Waking the Dead” the image
of the lamb with light shining in through the cracked door came to me.
As John Eldridge says in his book, “It might be a surprise that
Christ asks our permission to come in and heal, but you may remember
that famous passage from Revelation, “Behold, I stand at the
door and knock” (3:20) NKJV). He doesn't force his way in, and the principle
remains true after we have given Christ the initial access to our hearts
that we call salvation. There are rooms we have kept locked up, places
he has not had access to by our own will, and in order to experience
his healing, we must also give permission to come in there.”
Barbi Dalton - Painting
to me is a way of worship and time of communication with my Lord Jesus
Christ. Bob, my husband and children Reeves, Casey and Kurt moved to
Chapel Hill, NC. 6 years ago. I studied Art at The University of Kansas, and
continued studies in Europe and various workshops throughout The United
States. I have been honored to paint several murals in various Churches
in Chicago, IL. and Raleigh, NC. My paintings are inspired by God and
colored by my vision and ability to transform an everyday scene into
a dynamic affirmation of life. I'm drawn by the strong interplay of light
and shadow. It invariably brings me to feel a Divine presence. The figure,
recently has captured my interest of depicting the everyday tribulations
of life. My watercolors and oil paintings are represented at Art Source
in Raleigh and The Orange County Open Studio Tour. I am an exhibiting
member of The Art Alliance Group of Raleigh.
