“Cardinal”
Gayle Thomas
Watercolor
A beautiful red bird fluffed up against the cold of yet another ice
storm
was the inspiration for this piece last winter. How fortunate we are
that
these brilliant birds winter with us, giving us pleasure when the world
is
mostly grey. Flashes of natural beauty like this are often my inspiration
for prayers of worship and joy.
Gayle Thomas rediscovered her artistic impulses through her children's
interest in art. She has been taking classes for 5 years in drawing and
watercolor at the ArtsCenter in Carrboro. She finds drawing and painting
a
restful retreat from society's hectic pace. She is priviledged to serve
as
a Family Practice physician in the Carrboro Community Health Center,
working
closely with the hispanic community.
