“Charlie”

Liza Howell

Oil on Canvas

Charlie was the faithful friend of my painting mentor, Mary Clark. I painted Charlie from a photo she had take years ago. I never had the opportunity to meet this amazing ball of fur but I am awed every time I paint an animal, portrait or landscape at out Creator's magnificent creations. We are all the work of His hands- every detail. Cloud, blade of grass, smile, freckle, whisker, bark, meow, laugh, and breeze. All declare His glory and power. The earth is His and everything in it and He has made all things well.

Liza Howell
Painting is one of the greatest joys of my life. It is the thrill of capturing a glimpse of the Lord’s ever changing masterpiece. Whether I’m painting a portrait or landscape, I am always in awe of the Creator behind my subject.

I graduated from UNC-CH in 1990 with a BA in Studio Art. I have studied illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, Rhode Island. In 1993, I began to work as a decorative painter in Faux Finishes. My love for oil painting took off in 1994 when I began to study painting under Mary Clark. She has given me wonderful training in color, landscape and portraiture.
